The Beginning of the End
Certainly a more dramatic title than "Introduction" but it aptly sums up the journey we're about to embark on.
No, I'm not talking about an apocalyptic end, or some grim picture of the future, I'm talking about the satisfying end when you know you've achieved what you set out to do all those years ago. That goal that seemed so distant. The path that we're on together now.
"Know Thyself: Nurturing the Inner Leader" kicks off our "Growth in Leadership" programme. Together they provide a road map for young and aspiring leaders to follow. You and I are the pioneers so share your feedback freely.
We all have the seed of leadership within us. Even the meekest will rise when the challenge presents itself, but what instead of waiting for the moment, we chose to cultivate and nurture that seed? The seed is waiting to be awakened. Our continuous learning and self-development serve as the water and nutrients, but we also require self-realisation, like the sun's rays to break through the soil.

Coming Up!
In the second part of Building Your Foundations we will introduce three foundation stones of leadership. With them you'll not just get by, and be "alreet". They are critical in helping you become the exceptional leader you're destined to be.
For next time, on a piece of paper with a special pen of your choosing, answer the following questions as honestly as you can. This is very important as it will connect you deeply with your vision and purpose. I don't need to see these answers (unless you particularly want me to) but they will start the process of getting your mind into the habit of self-reflecting and introspection.
Self Development
Q1. What do you think is your ultimate goal? Why are you here, with me, at theTeasdaleway?
Q2. What do you believe are your strengths? Not just in leadership or management.
Q3. What do you believe are your weaknesses? Not just in leadership.
Q4. When you were a child (up to about the age of 15 16) list as many of the things you wanted to do and achieve. It's your list don't worry if you now think it is small or silly. I wanted to be a bus driver!
Q5. What was the last project, task or job that involved leadership? Are you still doing it? No? Why? Yes? Is it what you still want to do?
